If you’ve ever thrown a party, you know that catering and food items for events can be expensive.  It’s estimated that the average wedding cake in the USA costs around $500!

Would you pay more for a one-time indulgence? Many people have certain indulgences reserved for bucket lists or if they ever win the lottery. However, even these pricey treats might just be too expensive.

Full disclosure: some of these desserts are not for sale on a regular basis, but were custom orders for events. But STILL.

Here’s a list of the most expensive desserts in the world. Which of these (if any!) would you indulge in if you could afford it?

#1 Custom Runway Cake- $75 million

Yep, you read that right.  A cake that was $75 million dollars.  Created in 2015, by British Designer Debbie Wingham, the cake was bought for a birthday/engagement party for the daughter of an unnamed buyer in the United Arab Emirates.

The design is a six-foot-long depiction of a runway fashion show.  It weighs in at nearly 1,000 pounds, with more than 250 pounds of fondant and confectioneries. It took more than 1,100 hours to make, and all of the tiny edible figurines were hand-sculpted. The kicker- it is embedded with 4,000 diamonds. 17 of which have a combined worth of over $45 million.

#2 “Pirate’s Fantasy”- Custom Cake

This jewelry studded cake was designed by 9-time Culinary Olympics winner Dimuthu Kumarasinghe, and is as elaborate as the name suggests.

The cake had 10 layers, each with a different flavor, and comes complete with a pirate treasure chest full of booty! The cake is adorned with gems and the chest includes cufflinks, necklaces and other plunder worthy of a pirate lord!

#3 Strawberries Arnaud- $9.85 Million

This dessert is a little bit silly. The traditional strawberry dessert served at the New Orleans restaurant, Arnauds, traditionally costs the affordable price of $9. However, if you want the millionaire upgrade, you can get 24-carat gold flakes, whipped cream, vanilla ice cream, doused in expensive champagnes and liquors, and a 10.06-carat blue diamond engagement ring created by MS Rau Antiques.

#4 Chocolate Pudding- $34,000

Nope, this is not your normal Jell-O chocolate pudding. This gorgeous dessert was created by Chef Marc Guibert in England’s LIndeth Howe Country House Hotel.

This decadent treat includes edible gold, gold and champagne caviar, and of course four flavors of rich CHOCOLATE! Oh, did I mention the 2-carat, non-edible diamond? If you really want to splurge, you can add a $700 bottle of Chateau d’Yquem to wash down all that gold. (I mean go big or go home…. right?)

#5 Frrrozen Haute Chocolate Ice Cream Sundae- $25,000

This is just one of TWO decadent desserts on this list from a restaurant called Serendipity 3 in New York City.

The sundae contains 23-carat edible gold, topped with a $250 truffle called the La Madeline au Truffle, and comes with an 18-carat gold bracelet with 1 carat of white diamonds on it.

#6 Golden Opulence Sundae- $1000

The second of the two desserts from Serendipity 3, The Golden Opulence was also the previous record holder for the most expensive sundae (before #5 came to be).

It may be more reasonably priced than it’s friend, but don’t think it lacks in anything. This beauty has Grand Passion Caviar, chocolate truffles, and Tahitian vanilla bean ice cream- all enveloped in 23-carat gold leaf, gold flakes and gilded sugar flower, all drizzled with the finest chocolate and fruits they could find. As expensive as it is, the restaurant sells about 1 a month.

#7 Golden Phoenix Cupcake- $1000

Now if cupcakes are more your style than frozen treats, then this is for you! For the same price as the Golden Opulence, you can chow down on the Golden Phoenix Cupcake in Dubai.

This is no ordinary cupcake- Ugandan vanilla beans, Italian chocolate, and strawberries dipped in edible gold, topped with a dusting of more edible gold and fresh whipped cream.

What do you think? Which one of these (if any would you try?)
